Foreign coaches control the Moroccan football talent training project

Ecrit par : Yasmine Bounou

The Moroccan football scene is undergoing major transformations, as the Royal Moroccan Football Federation seeks to develop the youth sector. However, the selection of foreign coaches to take over has sparked widespread debate about its suitability for the desired goals.
The list of coaches appointed showed clear control of the French school, with almost complete absence of national trainers. This choice raises several questions about the reasons why the FRMF made this decision, and have all options available at the local level been exhausted?
The list of new training managers contracted by the Royal Moroccan Football Federation as part of the new training project to be overseen by OCP included Senegalese Demba Mbaye, Belgium’s Jackie Mataisen, Portugal’s Pedro Santos and Turkey’s Erol Malcoc.

The list also saw the presence of French-Algerian Mo Saad Hosni, French Cedric Cattnoy, French-Algerian Lotfi Lazaar, Frenchman Jean-Marc Nobello, Frenchman Laurent Agwazi and Frenchman Mohamed Shasha.
Fawzi Lajaa seems convinced of the expertise of foreign cosches, but relying exclusively on them may marginalize national competencies and limit opportunities for the development of Moroccan trainers. How can a new generation of local coaches be built if they are not given the opportunity to prove their abilities?
In addition, there are concerns that this approach could lead to long-term dependence on foreign expertise, making Moroccan football hostage to global market volatility. Is it possible to build a sustainable project based on national competencies capable of adapting to future changes and challenges?
On the other hand, this project represents a significant investment, both in terms of financial and human resources. Have all the implications of this decision been studied, and are there guarantees that these investments will bear fruit in the long run?
